    Hey we are chasing an problem in our SQL setup and in that quest we come across some heavy requests called often by the pulseway client the querylooks llike this This comes in at 1 place and 3 and 4 place in top most CPU consumin queries We are running an "large" SQL db (600GB) with 850 users online... so a lot queries are running alle the time... Any ideas ? Use [master]; SELECT TOP 100 L.request_session_id AS SPID, DB_NAME(L.resource_database_id) AS DatabaseName, O.Name AS LockedObjectName, P.object_id AS LockedObjectId, L.resource_type AS LockedResource, L.request_mode AS LockType, ST.text AS SqlStatementText, ES.login_name AS LoginName, ES.host_name AS HostName, TST.is_user_transaction as IsUserTransaction, AT.name as TransactionName, CN.auth_scheme as AuthenticationMethod FROM sys.dm_tran_locks L JOIN sys.partitions P ON P.hobt_id = L.resource_associated_entity_id JOIN sys.objects O ON O.object_id = P.object_id JOIN sys.dm_exec_sessions ES ON ES.session_id = L.request_session_id JOIN sys.dm_tran_session_transactions TST ON ES.session_id = TST.session_id JOIN sys.dm_tran_active_transactions AT ON TST.transaction_id = AT.transaction_id JOIN sys.dm_exec_connections CN ON CN.session_id = ES.session_id CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(CN.most_recent_sql_handle) AS ST WHERE resource_database_id = db_id() ORDER BY L.request_session_id;
  2. Hello, i would like to know, when the feature of monitoring the HP ILO interfaces via SNMP is availible. I read in your forums that it is coming. Thank you for your answer. Best Regards Florian Lauer
  3. Hi everyone, I encountered an issue which some of you may have encountered and no-doubt some will encounter in the future whereby you will need to install Pulseway on multiple workstations, laptops etc. and multiple servers. You may also not necessarily want to have the same Pulseway Group Policy enabled for every single device on the network. So, how do we go about doing this? Essentially, it’s the same as the Pulseway Windows GPO installation but with some small changes. Prep the Shared Folder Firstly, we need to make a share that all users can access, and make sure you’ve put the Pulseway_XX.msi in this folder. Make the Config File(s) Next, load up Pulseway Manager and make any changes you want to the config, this will then need to be saved in the same folder as the .msi If you wish to make different config files for Servers, Workstations, Laptops, Tablets etc., please do so now and save them to the same folder. Create the Security Groups For each type of machine you wish to have managed/monitored by Pulseway please create a new Security Group within ADUC (Active Directory Users and Computers) and then add the devices you want to the appropriate group(s). Make the MST File(s) Thanks to forum user robbinschut for this snippet which I’ve modified for this purpose. Follow these steps to create a successful MST file: Open the Pulseway MSI file in Orca Click in the menu "Transform" -> "New transform" Go to the Property table In the right pane right click -> Add row Fill in the property names CONFIG (UNC Path to config file) and CONFIGPASSWORD and the value(s) NOTE: Fill in the property name in UPPER CASE! At this point you can make any other adjustments you would like to the msi on installation. After you added all the arguments you want, click in the menu "Transform" -> "Generate transform..." Save the MST file to the same folder with Pulseway_XX.msi If you have multiple config files for different machines, please create a new Transform for each config file, making sure to make the changes as needed. Set the GPOs You will need to create one of these for each type Transform File you have created. 1. Create a new Software Installation Package in User Configuration > Policies > Software Settings node of Group Policy Management Editor. 2. Select the Pulseway MSI file, and then click Advanced. 3. On ‘Deployment’ tab, Select “Assigned” Deployment type and make sure “Install this application at logon” is also selected and finally select Basic under “Installation User Interface Options”. 4. On the Modifications tab, click Add and select the MST file you created. (This is the ONLY opportunity you will have to apply a Transform to this Package.) 5. Click OK Update client machines Run Command Prompt as Admin and type: gpupdate /force /sync /boot The system will restart and when you next log in Pulseway will install with the correct Config File for your device! I hope this helps those in a bit of a bind when it comes to sending out the Pulseway software across networks without having to worry about setting up multiple groups for the same customer, manually setting up each instance of Pulseway or manually updating the config on each machine.
  4. I've got Pulseway installed on a number of servers and it notify's nicely if a backup is successful or fails, but I've a couple of instances when a backup hasn't even tried to run so has neither failed or succeeded. I've noticed a number of posts requesting a feature for Pulseway to generate an alert when no backup activity has been detected in X number of days. Has this been looked at? Is this possible? Can this be developed please? Thank you

    Hey forum, I recently had the whole thing running rather well in testing phase, so we decided to go for real. This meant getting different accounts to set the rights properly. This is what I did: puls.connect to connect the agents to the enterprise server. puls.adm to to manage everything (the only admin account). puls.myname to manage all the systems. puls.mycolleaguesname just like me. I linked all of the systems from connect to the others as associated accounts and gave all rights and notifications on. Here is the problem: I am getting almost no notifications whatsoever. I have no idea why, they should be there. Does anybody have any idea? - Jaapyse

    I want to send a batch file command through jenkins that will alter the config files for all the windows machines (i do this easily on my Linux machines). Reading through the documents here i see instructions for importing config files but that is it. Am i supposed to create my own config file and import it into my pulseway file? If so how do i go about this, I am having trouble understanding where to go from here. Thanks, Aaron

    I have two PCs on my local network, 1x Windows 10 home - wakes via 4G cellular network and local LAN 1x Windows 10 Pro - only wakes on local LAN I've tried forwarding port 9, checked that the NIC settings are correct (magic packet etc...), made sure the drivers were up to date, disabled fast boot (though it is enabled on the one that works) and checked the Pulseway settings (same for both PCs). I can't work out why one wakes and the other doesn't. The both have the same type of NIC. Any help?
  10. I've read this blog here about 'setting up multiple user accounts'. I've not tested this out as yet - but what happens to the installed monitored agent if you delete a the user from the being a user of pulseway (i.e. the employee / contractor is terminated)... Does the agent still remain actively monitored? - or does it get lost? - or does the system not allow the deletion of the user until all agents responsible are moved to a new user? - Is there a clean handover? - or do we have to login to each monitored agent device and change credentials before the deletion of the user? Also - when you adopt a to allow multiple users across multiple agents... when it comes to on-boarding a new user, does it not get a little confusing which agent has been installed by multiple users?... I'm thinking there is some best practice answers to my questions... Thanks - Grunta
  11. Hi, Long time user just for my home systems and just built a new gaming rig and installed Pulseway and as per the title am unable to set a notification for any hardware monitoring on the CPU, which is an I7 6700k ? I've installed Pulseway and rebooted but no joy? Running on Windows 8.1 Pro adn when viewing the new device in Pulseway monitoring it show the CPU usage (%) and the BIOS version etc. but unable to add the notifications? I know both the Motherboard (MSI Z170 M7) and CPU (Intel i7 6700k Skylake) are very new, so is it just an update of Pulseway needed or am I missing something ?

    Hello, At the moment I am working on setting up SNMP to monitor the amount of storage used on a Synology NAS. I am able to get the size and amount used with the hrStorageSize and hrStorageUsed (.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5 & ....6) but it displays it as a "random" number. Of course this number is not random, it is expressed in hrStorageAlocationUnits (....4), which is expressed in bytes or kilobytes or something. What it waters down to is that the "random" number can be calculated into an normal number like gigabytes. How can I do this in Pulseway? I would like to hear from you as soon as possible. Thanks in advance, - Jaapyse
  13. Hi. We have the idea, that it would be great if you could define two separate configurations sets for a server. The second set could be a transparent version of the real configuration set, but with possibility to disable every notification fine grained. Then it should be possible to set up a week schedule for when to use each configuration set, like "service hours" and "off-service hours". Perhaps also an option to "postpone notifications durring off-service hours" to first let them be send, when entering service hours again. Today most of our servers is not services 24/7, and we get a lot of performance notifications durring night, related to backup (like, cpu, memory and disk i/o). We have thought about setting servers in maintenance mode for nights and weekends, but we are afraid of missing backup errors (that we monitors through eventlog monitoring). Do you have any thoughts about this. How is everyone else handling this? Best Regards, Martin Stevnhoved

    I would like to see a feature that you can create some basic custom commands. For instance, a button on the app that allows you to empty the trashcan, delete temporary files, clear Internet data, or even just run a full system cleaner session. However, having a button that leads to a new menu, and being able to add a wide variety of commands to that that are preprogrammed by pulse way, then preselected by the user to be in that list. Then make sure it is open to custom API's for even more functionality.
  15. Hello, On my new computer I can only see the temperatures of the hard-disks. I cannot find anything in the configuration to activate the rest of the sensors. Am I overlooking something? Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z170X-Gaming 3 (Intel Z170 (Skylake PCH-H)) CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake-S GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980 Ti OS: Windows 10 Home Build 10240 Best regards, Aloyse
  16. Good Afternoon, We have been using your pulse way product on windows machines for a few years now and are very impressed with it, as it’s been a life saver many of times. This week I have tried implementing the monitoring agent on one of our Ubuntu 12.04 LTS boxes which are running a big data platform powered by HPCC Systems. I have pretty much configured it so it will tell me if drive space is low, CPU usage is high, free memory is low, whether the machine is off or on etc., but I am having problems getting it to tell me of these services HPCC components are running : mydafilesrv mydali mydfuserver myeclagent myeclccserver myeclscheduler myesp myroxie mysasha mythor I have been trying to establish initially if these are actually services rather than processes, and have found some commands online to help : List System D Services : ls /lib/systemd/system/*.service /etc/systemd/system/*.service List System V Init Services : service --status-all # for init scripts: ls /etc/init.d/ # for runlevel symlinks: ls /etc/rc*.d/ UP Start initctl list initctl list | awk '{ print $1 }' | xargs -n1 initctl show-config however the list above does not seem to show up, so I have been doing some trial and error, using each combination in a bid to see the services running on my iPhone, as they currently show as stopped, and cannot be started within the app even though they are running : Here are some things I have tried : <Service Name="myesp" DisplayName="myesp" IsDaemon="true" DaemonType="UPSTART" Path="" StartParameters="" CanBeStopped="true" Enabled="true" /> <Service Name="myroxie" DisplayName="myroxie" IsDaemon="true" DaemonType="NONE" Path="" StartParameters="" CanBeStopped="true" Enabled="true" /> <Service Name="mysasha" DisplayName="mysasha" IsDaemon="true" DaemonType="SYSVINIT" Path="" StartParameters="" CanBeStopped="true" Enabled="true" /> <Service Name="mythor" DisplayName="mythor" IsDaemon="true" DaemonType="SYSTEMD" Path="" StartParameters="" CanBeStopped="true" Enabled="true" /> I have done the same with processes e.g. <Service Name="mythor" DisplayName="mythor" IsDaemon="false" DaemonType="NONE" Path="" StartParameters="" CanBeStopped="true" Enabled="true" /> The only catch here is I am not passing any start-up parameters like your example showed for NTP, are parameters required do you know? <Service Name="ntpd" DisplayName="NTPD Process" IsDaemon="false" DaemonType="NONE" Path="/usr/sbin/ntpd" StartParameters="-p /var/run/ntp/ntpd.pid -g -u ntp:ntp -i /var/lib/ntp -c /etc/ntp.conf" CanBeStopped="true" Enabled="false" /> I was wondering if you had any advice or pointers that may help, as my Ubuntu / Linux skills are limited. If I get this all working then I will be increasing out license count by at least 50 servers. Thanks in advance Antony

    I've been monitoring a few test systems during my evaluation. How can I remove these systems from being monitored? If I uninstall the Manager app, I can't manage my other systems anymore. Or in other words, how do I stop monitoring a machine?
  18. Hello , trying to get my pulseway to send notification correctly from my dell system administrator. Dell writes correctly to the system event log.. But I can't seem to get the notifications to forward. I Want ANYTHING from the Server Administrator to be sent, as a test, then I'll cut back to warning or error. Do you see anything wrong? with the setup? I am NOT getting messages
  19. If you have recently updated your Pulseway iOS app to the 4.8 and get the "Unknown connection error" message when opening the app you will need to update your server SSL certificate to SHA-2. Please refer to this post for instructions:
  20. If you are using an SHA-1 certificate for your Enterprise server, you will need to update it to SHA-2. You can use https://shaaaaaaaaaaaaa.com to check if your server is still using SHA-1 and for instructions on how to update to SHA-2. If you have any questions please email support at pulseway.com and we'll be glad to help.
