Windows installation and configuration

  1. I am monitoring a PC and a Windows 2008 server core. Both are in the same network and behind a firewall. The one who is up first shows up online in my mobile phone. For instance, if my pc is up, and the core starts up later, I can only manage my PC. When I shutdown my pc, I can monitor my core. If I start my pc, I cannot manage my pc, only my core server. So it seems i can have only run one PC Monitor behind my firewall. Can you help me with this?

  2. Started by eXpress,

Hi there Is it possible to start the maintenance mode via the commandline? (e.g. PCMonitorManager.exe call with param). My server performs a weekly reboot. I have a shutdown script which ends all services, task, etc. and a start script which starts them again after the reboot. Now, i have to manually start the maintenance mode, wait until the reboot over night is done, and then end the maintenance mode manually again. Is it possible that i can start the maintenance mode in my shutdown script, and exit maintenance mode in the start script? Thanks for any hint :-) Regards Simon

  3. I am in the process of testing the software and have a question regarding the SQL Server module. Is it possible to monitor/control multiple instances of MS SQL Server on the same machine? From what I can see, the setup does not allow for this.

  4. Started by megabyte,

The server I added yesterday to PC monitor has been showing offline since late last night. The software installed without any problems, the service is running and everything seems fine from the server side but it still shows offline in the monitors (Application, phone and online). I've restarted the service, turned off the firewall and redownloaded and reinstalled the software to no avail. It was working fine yesterday when I installed it but now, nothing. What am I missing here?

  5. Ok so I downloaded the newest version and launched the installer. It got to the end and gave the following error: Product: PC Monitor -- Error 1001. Error 1001. The source was not found, but some or all event logs could not be searched. Inaccessible logs: OAlerts. I only could select "OK" and did so which rolled back the install. I then attempted to reinstall and i get the following error: Error 1001. The specified service already exists. Again I can only click OK and then it rolls back. There are some temp files in the C:\Program Files\PC Monitor\ from the install. There is also something interesting where when I attempt to install I can actually laun…

I've just downloaded PC Monitor and really loving how it fits so much of our functions perfectly. Right now our company has a set of proprietary USB based devices that we keep plugged in our desktops. The problem is that this batch was poorly manufactured and has occasional failures. What we would like to do is able to be notified whenever one of the devices is no longer working in a USB port. I'm not sure if this is currently possible on the current version of PC Monitor or is there some other method to achieve this? Thanks!

  7. Hello all, We've been running PC Monitor Enterprise here and everything is working correctly, however, the server only allows us to open the Server Administrator application if you are running it as the user that installed it. We have several server admins here who need to be able to run this, and the account that installed the software is my personal domain account, not a shared account. I'd rather not have to reinstall under a shared service account, so I thought I would check here first to see if there is a way to either give out permissions to other admins or if this is a bug with a fix. Thanks in advance, Jason Tham

  8. We have two machines that we no longer have physical access to but do have MPM loaded onto it. We need to delete this machine from the MPM Dashboard but cannot find a delete option. I tried a net stop from command prompt via the console but it would not stop - I was hoping by stopping the service the machine would go offline and I would be able to right click and delete the machine. Any ideas on how to remove these two machines?

OK, I've configured a server/workstation. I select Export settings. It saves the file. I go to a second server/workstation, and import the settings file. All check boxes checked on the import dialog. It reports all settings have been imported. But none appear to have been. No settings boxes are updated/changed/checked anywhere in any options. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

  13. I'm using the PC Dashboard with a direct internet connection (behind a firewall), but it throws a connection error (295). Is there a document defining the ports that need to be open for the dashboard application? I also tried to use our MS proxy server, but that also throws an error "(407) Proxy Authentication Required", despite having the correct details in there. Help!

I had to reload my counters with a command in order to get CPU readings at all. I got that working, but now the only accurate CPU reading is the CPU tab. If I open the processes tab, some processes say 0% and others don't even show up. Do I need to reinstall? Windows 7 x64 intel core2 duo E8500 Mainboard MSI MS-7357 nVidia 470

  16. Hi, I'm using version 2.8.1 on a XP machine (SP3). After startup the PCMonitorsrv.exe consumes 100% CPU for about 5 minutes, making the computer completely unresponsive. I've checked several setting and read the install instructions, but didn't found any clues what is causing this behaviour. Any Thoughts ? Kind Regards, Gertjan

  22. I installed the x86 version and had no errors during install. Yet, the service will not start on the PC. I have checked the services to verify that is it listed and it is NOT. Upon uninstalling, an error came up as unable to uninstall since no service is listed. I re-installed the program, again with no errors, with the same issue resulting of the service not starting. Any ideas?! Have looked through registry but nothing stands out as obvious. Thanks!

I am running Windows 7 x64, I recently used my iPad to remove two accounts from monitoring. I am trying to open the desktop monitoring program to make some changes to one computer and it fails to open. I have rebooted, removed, reinstalled and rebooted again to no avail. The service is running but the monitoring program won't open. The dashboard program opens fine though. Markos
