i don't think so in general. pc monitor should not loose its focus and not try to become a "PC Everything" instead of pc monitor. don't get me wrong, a remote screen control would be a great feature to pc monitor but it is not what the original architecture of pc monitor provides, a data stream from client to agent.

but providing this it _must_ be more expensive and becomes less secure.

    Hello,

Wake on WAN problems are change from case to case. First thing on my mind is that the network adapter does not access WOL packets. Can you confirm you got this enabled on your adapter?

Also in BIOS check if Integrated Peripherals - Onboard LAN control is enabled.

If you have a Power Management tab on your adapter's properties page make sure all check boxes are ticked:

Open "Programs and Features" from the control panel. Click "Turn Windows features on or off" over on the sidebar. Scroll down and check "Simple TCPIP services" then click OK to install the feature:

Open "Services" from the "Administrative Tools" control panel. Scroll down to the service for which we just installed the feature. Make sure the service is started by clicking the link in the sidebar. Also ensure that the "Startup Type" is set to "Automatic" so that it will run with Windows.

Open "Windows Firewall" from the control panel. Only UDP is needed, but you can if you with open the port for TCP as well. This is because UDP is a broadcast packet which can always be received by your NIC, whereas TCP requires the computer to be powered up. This can also be set to limit the IPs which can use the port and other security features to make your computer less vulnerable. These are the easiest settings.

Now you can try to see if the computer wakes up. You can use wakeonlan.me to test if everything is working before trying out with PC Monitor.

Note: Credit goes to windows7-issues.blogspot.it who posted a great WOL article.

    Good Luck,
    Paul.

An alternative in the meantime, is to use the Powershell plugin.

You could read from a txt file containing all the computer names and then run a command against all those computer names. May need to think about credentials, but could work.

It does not affect licensing unless you are installing the PC Monitor agent on the VMs. Each agent installation will take one license.

Marius reacted to Cptrico in CouchBase Tool Plugin 1.0
This is my second plugin for PCM

Recently I had the opportunity to work with couchbase and memcached services. For those of you not knowing what it is, it’s a key value store or maybe more known as a NoSQL.
So I thought that it would be helpfull to have a tool that could test and monitor the service I was setting up. So now i want to share this with you, hoping it can be useful to others that are working with couchbase.
More information about Couchbase here: http://www.couchbase.com/

    Main features are:
Test store, retrieve, touch and remove operations.
Support both couchbase and memcached buckets.
Test with predefined key and value, or use input control.
Run monitoring on the bucket, sending a notification if any error is detected while reading/writing to it.
Set monitoring to start during plugin startup.
Allow the flushAll command, option to require password to run the command can be enabled.
All config changes are applied instantly, no restart required.

Click here to download version 1.0

Let me know what you think

From the PC Monitor Manager press the "Account Details" button and go to the "Associated Accounts" tab.

In the next Enterprise Server update this feature will also be supported in the server Admin app.

We will add an option in the PC Monitor Admin app to use your own salting parameter. It will then be combined with your server Url to make it unique for each Enterprise Server instance.

just finished my first .NET Cloud API application. a cloud instance named WorldAgent that is fired from a web-application which allows other monitoring systems like nagios creating http-calls that end as a pc monitor notification visible in all pc monitor clients

the nagios apps just call http:// {myenterpriseserver/wa/?message=the_message&priority={normal|elevated|critical}&code={auth-code} and the notification is fired. there is no need to wait for the http answer so it can be implemented nearly everywhere. an easy to use API to use and sell the excellent pc monitor clients to clients that already have set up other monitoring systems and do not want to throw them

    Hi All,

In the meantime I've set a notification to come up if the following happens:

    Event Log: System
    Level: Error
    Keywords: bad,block
    Event IDs: 7
    Sources: Disk

This happened on a work PC but I noticed it, but handy to have it tell you.

I had the exact same problem and believe it or not, it turned out to be the July 1 leap second issue described here:
    http://artipc10.vub.ac.be/wordpress/2012/07/01/leap-second-causing-ksoftirqd-and-java-to-use-lots-of-cpu-time/

I didn't figure it out until I was using Eclipse to build a plug-in and it was dog slow too. A bit of googling pointed me in the right direction. Hope that helps you!

Well you will need to port forward the UDP 9 port to any of your IP address from your home router. After you've do so you will be able to wake up your computers from outside your home network.

Indeed. For those who have more than one computer to manage, you can change the UDP port number within the client and then you can port forward on router to more tnah one internal computer
