VMware server module (Windows agent)

  1. Started by Marius,

If you plan on managing VMware vSphere from a system that is using Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP operating systems you must follow a few extra steps to get it working due to a known VMware issue with SSL Ciphers. Hi there. Totally new with Pulseway and so far only managed to set up various agents for our servers. I'm trying to setup the VMware module so that I can administer our VMs from afar but I haven't had any luck so far. Are newer versions of vSphere not supported, am I missing vSphere rights or am I running into potential firewall issues here? If firewall issues, anyone know which ports I need to allow for this to work? If vSphere issues, anyone know which rights a user needs? Thanks.

Dear Pulseway Community, we are looking for a way to monitor our ESXi hosts through Pulseway. Can I install the Linux agent on an ESXi somehow? Best Norman

is anyone using vmware view with pulseway? do you have problems when recomposing a department where pulseway has to be removed from the dashboard, reinstalled to the machine, and then permissions reallocated out to all the users when this happens? anyway around it?

Hi, We are a paying customer with a couple of professional subscriptions. Just wondering: what does the VMWare server module provide through the Pulseway webconsole? Am I supposed to get a VMWare server console? Because when I click through 1 to 4 (see attached screenshot), I eventually end up at step 4 giving me a black screen (note: picture is cropped). I tried both latest Firefox and IE. Am I supposed to get a VMWare console at step 4? note: VMWare credentials supplied in the Pulseway server client are correct, server connectivity is ok and I am clicking the online VM at step 3. edit: I just noticed when I click a Linux VM on the same h…

  8. Hello, We are currently using Veeam One Monitoring to monitor our vm machines, hosts and datastores. It shows notification of datastore latency of the host or VM. Is there a way to monitor the same info with Pulseway? I can only connect to my vCenter of Host, but furthermore I cannot configure anything. This is of course very crucial for us because of all our hosted servers (and therefor hosts of course) in our 2 Datacenters. Someone has experience with that and could send me on my way with some feedback, manuals or info. We are using Enterprise version of PulseWay Many thanks for the quick answer/feedback. Cheers Kurt

Hi there. I am new to Pulseway and I am attempting to set up management of my ESXi host. I have the Pulseway Monitor installed on a Windows 2008 R2 server VM on that host. I have enabled the VMware server module, entered the IP address of the ESXi host (on the management VLAN) and supplied my credentials for the vSphere login. The "Test Connection" button gives me the "connected successfully" message. However, when I open Pulseway on my iOS device, I only see the Windows server VM and nothing about the ESXi host. What am I doing wrong?

I have two machines that I have given the roll of VMWare Manage/Monitor Via PC MONITOR Manager. Both of the systems connect to the vCenter server or a specific host when I test connection but when I go to look at them through the web or on my mobile they just say Loading Data Centers... Loading VM's... nothing ever shows up. I have left them running to retrieve for hours and nothing ever shows up. My vCenter or ESXi Servers are definitely not in lockdown mode.

    Started by Guest Mike,

I just purchased a subscription, and I'm trying to figure out how to use the VMware monitoring feature. Where does PCMonitor run to monitor the vm hosts? I opened up PC Monitor Manager from a standard server and checked the checkbox for Monitor and Manage VMware. I then put in the server ip, username, and password. It passed the "test connect" check, but I do not see anything from VMware showing up in PCMonitor.

VMware module will be added in the 2.6 update and will support VMware vCenter and VMware ESX(i) if lockdown mode is not activated. VMware vCenter minimum version required is 2.5 while for VMware ESX the minimum version required is 3.5.
