Matt Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 For the last couple of days, computers have been reporting the definition updates for Windows Defender as important or critical. Previously, they were recommended, which would not trigger an alert. The previous rating worked much better since they come out multiple times a day and are almost always quickly, successfully and automatically installed by Windows. Is there anything that can be done to stop an alert every time Windows Defender has a definition update? Boff and BartB 2
Staff Chris Posted February 19, 2018 Staff Posted February 19, 2018 Hi Matt, We have released an update for this. Now you have the option to receive the notification if the important updates are available on the remote system.
BTC Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Hi, great to see an action regarding this so fast but unfortunately it does not really solve the problem. I still want to be alerted for critical and important updates but not for Windows Defender Updates that are a couple hours old. Would it be possible implement a grace period for Updates to be available without alert? This would also be very helpful for servers that are not patched every day. So if I could be alarmed for updates that are available for more than 12 hrs, 1 day or 1 week etc. whatever I choose. I kind of hate to script stuff to fix features I pay for. Thank you for your consideration.
Staff Chris Posted February 23, 2018 Staff Posted February 23, 2018 Hi, Thank you for your suggestion. We will consider the possibility to introduce this functionality into the future release.
fthl Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I would appreciate a fast solution to this - it is getting really difficult to maintain overview of my systems when I get multiple Windows Update notifications multiple times a day for multiple systems. BartB 1
MattK Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 A workaround for this is to create a scheduled task, run hourly that calls the following: "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate Source: https://www.urtech.ca/2014/08/solved-how-to-make-windows-defender-to-update-automatically/
MakoLogics Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 (edited) I agree, this is overwhelming for us and I will be forced to only use critical option only. Is there an option to change this on the web portal so I don't have to log into every machine and change the setting in the app. Edited April 15, 2018 by MakoLogics
Staff Chris Posted August 23, 2018 Staff Posted August 23, 2018 Hi, Have you checked the Pulseway Group policies? Now, you can configure this from the Pulseway WebApp -> Systems -> Group Policies. For more details about this please check out the following article.
