  1. All the best to developers of PW at all extent, that's least what they deserve. I really love it very much, that PW idea is not dead, love to see development taking places and things going forward into new dimensions.

    BUT I also love to criticize what bothers me. And this time it is that flat, anemic, Windows 10-like design, which got rid of colors, titles are all of the sudden not bigger and bolder, but smaller and barely seen, my eye cannot rely on blazing fast brain functionality to distinguish between different colors, because colors are gone, so I need to read what each icon means, especially under a bit stronger sunlight. And to my frustration I realize, that it takes me noticeably longer to get to where I want to go, to find what I am looking for. And that I need to think, read, evaluate navigation menus, that I need my glasses to get to services of one particular server, because I cannot distinguish company names anymore. And this really pulls my nerve - why, why did you seize really good base into this kindergarten made pancake?!
    Why so many designers just blindfoldly follow Win 10 idiotic flat design and themes? Some idiot at MS had too much influence, now years later whole world will drawn in inefficiency and idiocracy of non-human-centric and not-user-friendly designs for decades? How nobody thinks about how brain works? How human eye distinguishes details better, how to take advantage of shortcuts and speed thinking, which is already built-in into our brain...are all designers really so stupid, that they do not see the obvious anymore? Sorry designers, for marking some of you as idiots and being stupid, but I really do not think your principle to blindly follow what's trendy cannot be named with sweet and friendly names.

    So, to be constructive, my suggestion:

    Please, be so kind and open theme design to public, or just add "Good old color design" option checkbox to settings page.

    Thank you.

  2. Hi,

    On new Gallaxy S10 with Android 9 Pulseway app ignores Do Not Disturb schedule. So audible alarms wake up me all night long.

    Settings on phone are the same, Do Not Disturb schedule is set to mute everything, except alarms, favourites and repetitive calls. It is the same setting on my old Samsung s2 Note and s7 edge. But only on newest S10 Pulseway rings at night, while older android devices are mute.

    I guess Android 9 must somehow diferently clasify alarms, and pulseway tones are then wrongfully clasified as alarms, thus ignoring DoNotDisturb rules.

  3. Hi Chris,

    did you ever resolve this issue? I have dozen of servers with same symptoms - Pulseway service is top disk I/O Reader:

    Pulseway_disk_IO_problem.JPG

    Typically I have NO plugins installed, and under settings on all servers selected those features:

    • SYSTEM --> NETWORK --> Display Ping Response from some IP
    • SYSTEM --> SERVICES --> Selected to manage all Auto-start services
    • SYSTEM --> FILE BROWSER Enabled
    • SYSTEM --> REMOTE DESKTOP Enabled
    • MODULES --> MANAGE --> Active Directory
    • MODULES --> MANAGE --> Exchange
    • MODULES --> MANAGE --> IIS
    • MODULES --> MANAGE --> SQL Server
    • MODULES --> MANAGE --> Windows Server Backup
    • NOTIFICATIONS --> Services
    • NOTIFICATIONS --> Storage
    • NOTIFICATIONS --> Hardware --> CPU temperature
    • NOTIFICATIONS --> SERVER MODULES --> AD (Locked User)
    • NOTIFICATIONS --> SERVER MODULES --> Exchange (Messages Que longer than 20)

    That's more or less all I have.

    It is hard for me to test, because I would need to disable all features and enable them one by one, reboot server and left it over for a week or so to see results.

  4. I had a similar idea to split NOTIFICATIONS from STATUS indicator.

    As of now they are both the same, bu I would find it more handy to have STATUS icon be based on curent status instead of upon past read/unread notifications.

    So when alert condition would go away, server status would change back to green, while you could steel see notifications history under notificstions.

    Maybe notifications display could be rearanged so that cleared notification would be a subset of alert notification, like a tree branch to easier see, which green cleared which alert.

  5. Hi,

    I am not sure whether this is a bug or somehow failed design, but it's annoying to me:

    "The user account XY has been locked on domain ABC on server ZZZ"

    This warning keeps popping up every 15-30 minutes on my Android device, filling Notification logs and making me un-sensitive for possible NEW warnings. Is it somehow possible to let it warn ONCE, not repeating all the time?

  6. Additional explanation of my idea about NOTIFICATIONS:

    I think, notifications should be more in a LOG fashion, so I could see the history of events. But the STATUS should be not bind to notifications, but rather to current status.

    Also NOTIFICATIONS should also just switch between unread/read status, but should not be able to delete (due to my LOG approach mentioned above).

    I think such an approach would make Pulseway more usable, with better overview of past events and easier monitoring of current status.

    What do you think?

  7. Hi,

    first off, congrats for new HTML5 PC version of dashboard - excellent & thank you!

    Now, critics and suggestions:

    • (ENH): in BOTH, mobile and PC version (HTML5 and Flash), I think the status icon for servers (none/yellow/red) should reflect current status, and not status of read notifications. For example, server was reboot to apply updates, notification about shutdown and offline was triggered, then server comes back up....but icon status still showing RED. By my logic, it should show green, because it's now online, not red due to not having time to read notification.
    • (ENH):Under REPORTS, I'd appreciate horizontal 0-100% line display instead of textual percentage only. It would look nicer and be easier to judge uptimes, CPU, memory, and disk utilization.
    • (ENH): File Browser might be enhanced in future, enabling at least to view/edit text files and select/delete multiple files/folders.
    • (BUG): Uptime percentages in HTML5 desktop version show 100% for everything under 7, 30 and 90 days period, which is not correct. I have had over 5 hours outage on at least 2 servers, but this is not shown under uptime report.
  8. Hi Calin,

    I was not able to reproduce the above mentioned bug again, but I can give you more info:

    • my control computer (viewer) is Windows 8.1, 64-bit, i7 CPU with 8 cores @ 3,4GHz and 20GB RAM
    • remote computer is Windows Server 2012R2, 4-core Xeon with 8GB RAM
  9. Hi,

    with Remote Desktop version 4.7.6 I noticed some bugs:

    • When Remote Desktop is opened for some time, the Num Lock on my local keyboard gets set to whatever is set on remote machine and cannot be changed as long as Remote window is opened.
    • Also typing into local programs is not possible if remote window is frozen (which seem to happen after leaving remote window active for few hours). Closing Remote window helps.
    • ALT+TAB does not work in remote window, neither inside it, nor out of it (I expect it would switch windows either inside remote session, or to switch off of remote window, but nothing happens)

    And to wishlist:

    • Copy-Paste file transfer to/from remote computer
    • and maybe to release a 1 concurrent remote session per 10 licences, that would be nice - having only 1 and paying US$ 1000 for next one is kinda frustrating :)
  10. Hi,

    upon first-time configuration on new server I spend a lot of time to configure MONITORED SERVICES, one by one, having another window with SERVICES.MSC open and comparing services one by one, if it is running and whether to check it or not.

    I'd suggest better approach here:

    Improvement 1

    would be to have a button under SERVICES tab, saying "Select all running services".

    Improvement 2

    would be to have "Service status" shown under SERVICES tab

    Improvement 3

    would be some sort of "Collective intelligence", where you'd have a button to "Select most common services", where info in background would be sorted on Pulseway servers, like, computer OS --> Which services are mostly selected by most users.

    The (3) method would be also usefull on many other places, for example:

    - REPORTS might include stats about your server, compared to average (errors below or over average, reboots, uptime etc...) All those could be compared to some users average

    - PROGRAMS INSTALLED/UNINSTALLED could also be compared in "collective mind" against wanted and unwanted applications

    - hmmm...going further that way is definitelly theme for another thread

  11. My vote for this, too.

    Maybe the whole point would be to have the overall general status of monitored server/device displayed according to actual status in real time, no according to past events, which might be resolved on site but not yet cleared in Pulseway app.

    The underlaying decision is then how to sort past notifications. To group them by device, or to just list them in timely manner...that is debatable, or maybe to implement a quick sort button to toggle Group by device functionaliy

  12. Excellent idea!

    If we extend this info to debugging, then there might also be an option to sort locked accounts by LOCKOUT TIME, so admin would know, which computer started with malicious activity.

    Would be very helpful in case of Conficker and other network spreadable viruses

    viruses.

  13. My vote for Pulseway widget. Would be awesome, as application itself already is.

    Speking of this, let us specify which functions and displays we'd like to see on widget itself. What comes on my mind, here are few suggestions:

    - multiple templates shoukd be abailable

    - One of templates should list all servers in a table, from all in 1 column, to multiple columns

    - For ease of display, each server cell in column should display green, yellow or red bullet or check, exclamation or X cross for each level of warning

    - Uset could choose whether to display only 3-letters abbreviation of server, full name, and some other useful info by choice

    - Widget background should have an option to ba transparent, too, so it would fit some fancy desktop designs

    - Resizable widget with automatic table columns resizimg

    - Option to select at least 3 font sizes

    What you think?

  14. Hi,

    I am using PCM for some time and I am thinking of purchasing more licences. Some days ago I installed debugging app on one of my servers (Linux) and it reported two weird errors in pcmonitor.jar:

    1.) NullPointerException in checkflick.data.entities.Movie
    Called by putMovie

    public String toString() {
    return "name: " + this.fullName + ". status: " + this.status.toString();
    }

    2.) ArithmeticException in checkflick.bidding.SimpleBidBroker

    Called by SimpleBidBroker

    def handlePricing(bid: CustomBiddingRequest) {
    val pricePerUnit = bid.getUnitCount / (bid.getPrice * 1)
    • CustomBiddingRequest

    println("Price for request: " + bid.getRequest + " is: " + bid.getPrice)
    println("Price per unit is " + pricePerUnit)
    }

    What do those "Movie" and "Broker" stuff have to do with PCMonitor?

  15. Well, back to the topic.

    This morning I woke up and found notifications for 3 servers to be offline! Even before I opened my eyes completely, I held internal panic inside and started investigation, even though my view was still blurry.

    But nothing... I found absolutely nothing wrong, all servers were up and running, no complaints from users, no other alarms.

    Hmmm....must be a glitch either in PCM agent, maybe some hiccup on internet connection....

    ...but the fact at the moment when I looked at the screen of my mobile phone was, that at that particular moment servers were NOT OFFLINE ANYMORE.

    Well, for such cases I still think some "auto-update" feature might be built-in to PCM to automatically mark such a notifications as pase, maybe some other color, not red anymore. With other words, the color of notification might change depending on CURRENT item status - while elevated or critical state lasts, the appropriate color should be applied to notification. But when this state is over, also notification color should change.

    Too complicated?

    What do you think, guyz?
