marinhd Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Any one want to share info on the hosting setups they are using? I was hosting internally and moved my server to Amazon ec2 with VPC. I monitor approximately 30 machines. My cost is going to be around $50 - $60 a month. Would like to hear feedback from other Enterprise Users....
Administrators Paul Posted April 4, 2012 Administrators Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) I don't currently own any Enterprise servers however I think you can host it in a VPS too and exponentially cut the costs. Not really sure if this applies to your case however you can try asking for some free trials at some various hosting companies and see the result. I consider 50$ a bit much for a restrictive instance with 30 monitored pcs. Edited April 4, 2012 by Paul
marinhd Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 I am only monitoring 30. But I can monitor up to 100 unless I increase my license.... Enterprise...
marinhd Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Main reason is the reliability. Uptime... Also SAS70 faciity. Another great feature is I can quickly take a snapshot of the server. Make any changes I want and instantly revert if there is an issue.
Administrators Paul Posted April 4, 2012 Administrators Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) Usually there are no problems with the uptime, as for reliability and snapshots, most hosting companies also offer you backups or full VM snapshots depending on the package you choose. But yes if it's only 50$ a month it's not that bad for all those features.. Edited April 4, 2012 by Paul
marinhd Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Yes. I was curious if there were any other users with good experiences as I am new to the cloud hosted as I have always kept my own servers in a colo facility but tired of the cost of maintaining and replacing my servers...I am finding that cloud hosted is about half the cost of just my colo (Full Rack) rental here in California.
marinhd Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 So I am running in Amazon Cloud and my monthly cost is $30 a month for a reserved Windows box... Pretty Good price I must say! Paul and Marius 2
marinhd Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 So I am still running in Amazon. Â my bill monthly is $38. Â Just the electricity a month would be that if hosting on a server....... Â I have had no issues and have been running for over 1 year! Paul 1
Administrators Paul Posted June 7, 2013 Administrators Posted June 7, 2013 Can you also share your instance specs too? It would help others link a price to a number of concurrent connections.
