Mirosław Malinowski Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Today I found PCMonitorManager.exe removed from all 3 of monitored PC by G Data AntiVirus: Gen: Variant.Barys.1958 found. Probably false alert, but need to be fixed somehow between you and G Data...
Administrators Paul Posted April 29, 2012 Administrators Posted April 29, 2012 It's a false positive because the binaries are protected from debuggers (just like most viruses and other 5 million applications are). All PC Monitor released are signed with a certificate, this should be enough to prove the authenticity. In the mean time I suggest that you manually create exception rules for the PC Monitor folder. G Data... never heard of them.
Marius Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Thanks Miroslaw, Paul, Is there a way to report a false positive to them? Maybe from within their app?
Mirosław Malinowski Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Well known for several AV solutions: http://www.gdatasoftware.com/ What is unique to them for now is that they are one of few only companies providing solutions for MS Windows Home Server 2011. Just opened ticket with them, but no responce yet... Paul 1
Marius Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Thank you Miroslaw - hopefully they will respond soon.
JHimmelbauer Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I have too the GData Antivirus solution on some servers - until yet without problems...
Mirosław Malinowski Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Now thigs get worse; not only PCMonitorManager.exe deleted, but also pcmontask.exe... No responce from G_Data, send them another reminder :-(
Marius Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Sorry to hear about this. We're trying to contact them too, so far no answer.
