This of course gives them access to the web-based management interface, which I would like to restrict to authorized administrators only. Â I would like to see some sort of installer or manufacturing credentials feature that would allow a user to configure the client locally without having the ability to use the management interface.

This way you can provide your clients with a configuration file and a password for the configuration without having to share the account details that can potentially expose your other systems.
