CFitz89 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Hi Having a bit of an issue starting the service This had been installed and working correctly but I think some windows updates were run on the server and I am unable to start the service now Keep getting the error "Unable to start service" when I open the PC monitor manager and try to start the service. Â Any help much appreciated Â
Administrators Paul Posted August 27, 2013 Administrators Posted August 27, 2013 Check windows Event Log (eventvwr in Start->Run) and expand Windows Logs then open Application log. Check to see if there are any errors that are related to PC Monitor. If you find nothing open System log and see if it's in there. Â Good Luck, Paul.
CFitz89 Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Hi, Â Found the issue. I was trying to start the service through the PC monitor Manager console however when I actually tried to start the services through services management console. I seen that PC monitor had been disable. I just set it to automatic and was then able to start the service. Â Thanks for the help.
CFitz89 Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Actually having a similar issue on a different server now. Getting a notification to say server is offline but I can login to the server through Remote Desktop Open PC monitor and it says service is running Have restarted the service and cleared out the notifications and I get the alert then again to say that it is offline.
Marius Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 What's the message when you press the "Validate Account" button in the PC Monitor Manager on that server?
Marius Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 In this case please enable Diagnostic logging in the Manager Settings, make sure the PC Monitor service is started and after about 2-3 minutes send us (support at pulseway.com) the trace.log file from the PC Monitor installation folder.
CFitz89 Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Have done what you mentioned above, but cant seem to find the trace.txt document anywhere
Administrators Paul Posted September 3, 2013 Administrators Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Hello CFitz89, Please confirm that Diagnostic Logging is enabled in PC Monitor. Then look in PC Monitor's installation folder. If there is no trace.log file in that directory, try restarting the PC Monitor Service (net stop "PC Monitor" ; net start "PC Monitor"). Â Hope this helps you get the diagnostic logging working. Edited September 3, 2013 by Paul
CFitz89 Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Hi Paul, Â Yes have tried doing that but there is still no sign of it anywhere.
Marius Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Sorry, my mistake, it's not trace.txt, it should be C:\Program Files\PC Monitor\trace.log
CFitz89 Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 Thanks for the reply. Yes I know its trace.log and I still couldn't find it anywhere. Going to try and reinstall it and see how that goes
Administrators Paul Posted September 4, 2013 Administrators Posted September 4, 2013 Try looking in the Windows Event Logs to see if you find anything related to PC Monitor. Also try reinstalling Microsoft .NET Framework 4
CFitz89 Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Thanks for the replies. Got the issue sorted. Was able to schedule in a server restart and this seemed to resolve the issue
