Is there a way to do the following: "Use an API to call pulseway to trigger a workflow of any type on a server"

Workflows are triggered by notifications or when systems are added. Would triggering an automation task work for you? If so, we have an API for that available at https://api.pulseway.com

Can you please lead me or point me in the right direction on how to use the api, is there an example somewhere, I am not sure where to start. 

The API documentation comes with samples, you can either use postman, command line tools such as curl or code. For postman you should be able to find your way around after looking at some youtube tutorials.
