Wake up command

So first i would like to say that this app is very cool and great to use, my only snag that i am seeing is where the wake up command is used. how is it supposed to be used in relation to my computer, i have tried putting my computer in sleep/suspend/hibernate and nothing happens when i hit the wake up command.

You need to forward your WoL port in your router so that the Wake command can reach your offline computer.

I do not have access to anything router related (I live in a college dorm ATM). So without access is there nothing I can do?
